The young singer recently spoke intimately with Diane Sawyer about the evening when Chris Brown brutally assaulted her, reports Us magazine.

 

The 21-year-old star recounted the difficult experience, saying, "It wasn't the same person that says I love you. It was not those ... eyes. He had no soul in his eyes. Just blank... He was clearly blacked out. There was no person when I looked at him."

 

Chris Brown attacked Rihanna in Los Angeles on February 8.  The incident took place right before the Grammy Awards, and both stars were unable to attend the event.  Later, Brown was sentenced to five years probation, six months of community service and a year of domestic violence therapy.

 

Despite Brown's public apology, Rihanna says she has never forgiven him.  She added that she briefly reconciled with him, but had to work hard to hide her resentment. "He kept asking me, 'You hate me, don't you?'" Rihanna says. "And I would lie and I would say, 'No, no.' And... I did hate him. Everything about him annoyed me."

 

Though she admits to still having feelings for Brown, Rihanna knew that she could no longer have a relationship with him.
