Hilary Duff was born in 1987 in Texas. During her childhood, she appeared in many commercials. In 1997, she got the starring role in the children’s movie Casper Meets Wendy. In 2001, Duff received her big breakthrough when she was hired by Disney to play the starring character in the series Lizzie McGuire. The series had 65 episodes and was very successful. Duff was able to do the movie Lizzie McGuire based on the series. This also gave her career as a movie star a big boost.

Duff’s musical career began in 2002 when she sang The Tiki, Tiki, Tiki Room as part of a musical compilation produced by Disney. Shortly after, Duff began singing soundtracks for movies in which she had a starring role. In 2002, she sang Santa Clause Lane, from the Disney album Noel.

In 2003, Hilary Duff left the world of children’s music and decided to take her music career in a different direction. She launched her debut solo album Metamorphosis that same year. The single So Yesterday was at the top of the charts and the artist had earned international popularity. The album sold 2 million copies around the world. Duff also played in Cheaper By the Dozen that year, opposite Steve Martin. 

In 2004, Hilary Duff won an award for Best Artist at the World Music Awards. In the fall of 2004, the singer-actress released a self-titled album, Hilary Duff. It was not as successful as her first album, but still sold 1.5 million copies in the United States. The tracks Fly and Someone’s Watching Over Me were big hits. This same year, Duff played in the movies A Cinderella Story and Raise Your Voice.

Duff continued her music career and released another album entitled, Most Wanted in 2005. The single Wake Up was in the top ten 10 in Japan, Canada and in the United States. She also played in The Perfect Man and Cheaper by the Dozen 2 in 2005.

In 2007 Duff released the album Dignity. The album had commercial success in Britain, Canada and the United States. The singles Play With Fire and With Love were radio hits, and Hilary Duff won the award for love song at the Teen Choice Awards for With Love. During 2007, the singer started an international tour. In 2007, Duff began shooting two movies that will be in theatres in 2008. At the beginning of 2008, Duff plans on doing a European tour.
