Black collaborated with rappers such as Choclair, Kardinal Offishall and Baby Blue Soundcrew, doing vocals and writing lyrics. At the age of 20, Black was discovered by
Warner/Chappell Music for her writing talent. She signed a contract with the record company and wrote songs for Destiny’s Child and Nas.
Black continued writing and singing and in 2005 released her first album, This Is Me. She was the opening act for bands such as Jay-Z and 50 Cent. At the beginning of 2005, she played in the production Da Kink In My Hair at the Princess of Wales Theatre in Toronto.
Black is known as a strong and ambitious woman. The artist who considered the hip-hop industry in Canada almost non-existent, was nominated for the third time at the Juno Awards in the category, R&B Single of the Year.
In 2007, Black faced new challenges. She started hosting eTalk on CTV. She appeared in a television version of Da Kink In My Hair, where she also sang the theme song. In October, Black released a second album, Revival, dedicated to her sister who died at the age of 24. Her sister was the one who helped her to become a singer. The album had the collaboration of Keith Harris, drummer of the Black Eyed Peas. The hip-hop singer-writer will be touring Canada from coast to coast until December 2007.
