(bum) Timbaland is a rapper and hip hop artist from Virginia. For years Timbaland tried to make a breakthrough in music. He was a DJ in his hometown. He had connections in the music scene such as Missy Elliott and Ginuwine. Timbaland made his debut producing for Missy Elliott. The DJ started building a name for himself and he was producing for many artists.

Between 1996-2000, Timbaland participated very actively in the work for Missy Elliott and Aaliyah, as a producer and as a singer. The DJ, producer, composer and singer was beginning to be an icon in the world of hip hop.

In 1997, Timbaland released his first album which he did with Magoo, entitled Welcome to Our World. This album was not as successful as he would have liked, and Timbaland continued earning his income with the work done behind the scenes. The year after his debut album with Magoo was released, he released his debut solo album, Tim’s Bio: Life From da Basement. Once again Timbaland did not have great success with this album. He continued working behind the scenes perfecting his musical talents in R&B, hip hop and pop.

In 2001, Timbaland contributed to the success of artists such as Jay-Z, Nelly Furtado, Snoop Dogg and Justin Timberlake with the song Cry Me a River. Timbaland had become a sought after artist in the industry. That year he released his third album, Indecent Proposal, which was another collaboration with Magoo. The album was another disappointment. Two years later he released another album with Magoo, Under Construction Part II. In 2004, the album Greatest Hits by Magoo and Timbaland was released.

In 2006, after dozens of collaborations on stage and in the studio, Timbaland decided to create his own record label…Mosley Music Group. A few months later he produced and distributed Nelly Furtado’s album, Loose. The singles Maneater and All Good Things (Come to an End) were huge successes. In addition to these hits, Timbaland produced  the songs Sexyback and What Goes Around Comes Around, by Justin Timberlake.

Between 2000-2007, the artist received 8 nominations at the Grammy Awards for his work. To date, Timberland has been involved in more than 60 successful albums or singles for about ten different artists.

In April 2007, Timbaland released Timbaland Presents Shock Value. It is an album which features tracks sung by many artists such as Elton John, Fall Out Boy, Nelly Furtado and many more. The album was very successful. That year Timbaland received four nominations at the MTV Video Music Awards, and won two awards at the Teen Choice Awards for the song Promiscuous.
In the summer of 2007, Timbaland collaborated in the second album for the singer M.I.A. He also performed at Live Earth. At the end of the summer, he worked alongside Madonna, Ashlee Simpson and Björk to help them with their upcoming albums.
