Straight out of Brooklyn, Santogold is a project brilliantly led by the charismatic singer/producer Shanti White and his sidekick John Hill (aka Johny Rodeo). Thanks to internet buzz and their participation in the Stella Mac Cartney parade, the duo generated word of mouth about them before even releasing their much anticipated debut album. The album was produced by Switch, Diplo, Spank Rock and Radioclit. This album should confirm the growing significance of Santogold within the New York music scene. Santogold’s music is a diversified panorama of styles and a blend of eras along with punk from the 80s and hip hop from the 90s.
