Dumas

May 2001, Dumas releases his first album eponymous after his triumph at the “Festival International de la chanson de Granby” in 1999 and at the “Festival en chanson de Petite-Vallée” in 2000. Right away, Dumas is looked upon as one of the most highly regarded new figures from the Quebec musical universe. His first album made it in the Top 10 album chart of Le Devoir in 2001 and is amongst the 5 best francophone albums of 2001 according to Claude Rajotte, a respected critic.

Summer 2002, Dumas performs on two occasions on the biggest outdoor stage of the “FrancoFolies de Montréal”, including the mega-spectacle for the festival’s 35th anniversary during which he played brilliantly. In fall 2002, Dumas is nominated for “New Artist of the Year” and his video Miss Ecstasy is nominated for “Video of the Year” at the Gala de l’ADISQ. Miss Ecstasy is also nominated for “Best French Video” at the MuchMusic Video Awards.

It’s in April 2003 that Dumas presents a second album entitled Le Cours des Jours. This new album which Dumas produced with his good friend Carl Bastien, surprises many. Le Cours des Jours proposes different colorful styles such as new wave, electro, pop and rock. Le Cours des Jours is released with great success on commercial radio stations in Quebec and Dumas’ video gets aired briskly on MusiquePlus.

Dumas had an exceptional year in 2004. He not only had an electric and remarkable performance at the Gala de l’ADISQ, he was nominated in the coveted categories: “Album of the Year – Rock” and “Male Artist of the Year”. During the winter of 2004, Dumas composes with his acolyte friend Carl Bastien the motion picture soundtrack for Yves Pelletier’s movie Les Aimants.

In May 2004, Dumas releases a 4 track mini-album entitled Ferme la radio. The album was only available at his concerts and through his popular website dumasmusique.com. This mini-album was entirely produced and composed by Dumas and proves to be a magnificent and unexpected follow-up for his fans.

In January 2005, Dumas undertakes a significant personal challenge, he proposes a series of solo concerts titled Entre Vénus et Linoléum. Within a few months, Dumas performs over 10 sold-out concerts and adds more show dates. Consequently, Dumas is presented as the “Human Orchestra of the 21st century!” (Source: Sylvain Cormier, Le Devoir) During the fall of 2005, Dumas won the important Félix “Spectacle Auteur-compositeur-interprète de l’année” at the Gala de l’ADISQ for his solo concert.

January 2006, Le Cours des Jours is certified as a Gold Album with over 50,000 copies sold.

Fixer le temps, Dumas’ third album is released on November 28th 2006. Produced by Carl Bastien and Louis Legault, Dumas creates lyrics and music that add a powerful downpour of rock and create frantic levels of harmonies. Recorded live with his faithful musicians, Fixer le temps places Dumas in a class apart in the musical scene from Quebec; a brilliant singer-songwriter-performer, innovative, honest and mature.

Join us Saturday September 8th as the delightful Quebec singer-songwritter Dumas will perform on the Osheaga stage.
